Abstract
The AEM Navigator facilitates the process of decision-making around accessible formats of educational materials for individual students. It assists teams in making informed, accurate, and multi-step decisions related to determining a student’s need for accessible formats, selecting the format(s) needed, acquiring materials, and determining the supports needed by the student, family, and school staff.

- North Carolina’s AEM Planning Form
This AEM Planning Form from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is designed to assist educational teams in proactively planning for the provision of Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) in a timely manner for students who require them. Educational teams can utilize this form when considering a student’s need for accessible formats of print and digital text-based materials. The AEM Center is grateful to NCDPI for providing this form as an example of how a state or district can implement the practices outlined in the AEM Navigator. For more information, please contact Crystal Patrick, Consultant for Visual Impairment, NCDPI.
Please note: To use North Carolina’s AEM Planning Form, you will need to download the file and open it in a PDF reader, such as the free Adobe Acrobat Reader, not your web browser.
