AEM modules
The Online Learning Series have been updated! Please visit Online Learning Series on Accessible Materials and Technologies.
The AEM Center at CAST offers a five-module online learning series on accessible materials and technologies for individuals or teams to use for independent, self-paced, and self-directed learning. We also encourage state agencies, districts, teacher education programs, universities, workforce agencies, and other entities to adopt the modules for training personnel on best practices for providing accessible materials and technologies for all learners who need them.
The AEM Center does not provide feedback nor credit for module participants. Credit-bearing entities are free to use and adapt the modules in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike-4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).
All of the modules in the AEM Center series are pre-approved for Continuing Accessibility Education Credit (CAEC) for the IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) credential. If you currently hold IAAP Certification, you can submit documentation of module completion from your credit provider through IAAP’s online Continuing Accessibility Education Credit submission forms.
If you have technical assistance questions as you complete the activities in any module, please contact the AEM Center at aem@cast.org.
The Modules
Five modules cover a full range of best practices for providing accessible materials and technologies. Each module guides participants through three cumulative levels of activities using AEM Center resources and expertise (Level 1: Start, Level 2: Reach, and Level 3: Stretch). Depending on the number of levels completed, each module is a two- to four-hour commitment.
